The first time she caught my attention was when she said, “One of the criticisms I’ve faced over the years is that I’m not aggressive enough or assertive enough, or maybe somehow, because I’m empathetic, it means I’m weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate & strong.”
Why did I pay attention to her?
Because I never bought into this narrative that you cannot be compassionate and strong. I’m an Aquarius, kind of rebel, and I often question the status quo. Her stance confirmed that I wasn’t the only one to refuse it.
And since then, I have chosen her as my role model.
From her leadership position, being a mum and leading with kindness and strength, it felt good to see a woman in power embody feminine values with elegance and excellence.
You may have guessed gorgeous, who I am referring to.
Jacinda Ardem stepped down from her position as Prime Minister in New Zealand.
Her graceful departure made me admire her even more.
Not only does she have the strength to face very challenging times, but with the kindness she gave to others, she decided to extend it to herself, which deserves a standing ovation.
She stayed true to herself and decided to resign. She said: “I know there will be much discussion in the aftermath of this decision as to what the so-called ‘real’ reason was … The only interesting angle you will find is that after going on six years of some big challenges, that I am human,” she continued.
“Politicians are human. We give all that we can, for as long as we can, and then it’s time. And for me, it’s time.”
For me, she embodied a modern leadership model that people need: compassionate leadership; one centred on kindness, human-ness, and authenticity.
Being compassionate shows people they can be safe speaking to you, share their vulnerability so they can feel seen, heard and understood.
Once you cultivate this leadership, you’ll ignite your charisma because, as a woman, you’re compassionate. As a result, people will resonate with your authenticity.
But as Jacinda believes, you can be both compassionate and strong.
Her leadership is a testament that it’s possible.
So, the next step is to strengthen your resilience and develop a mindset that will support you and leverage your efforts to change your attitude and beliefs.
With this mindset, fears will no longer paralyse you, feeling like a fraud will be a thing of the past, and you’ll feel safe and confident to shine like the Queen you are.
If you feel called to cultivate this mindset and leadership to be seen and recognized for your value, book your exclusive charisma session here.
With love,
Gaëlle
